"The scientist is not a person who gives the right answers, he is one who asks the right questions."

Science Experiments

Let It Roll is a fun science experiment that you can do from home listed on the Try Science website.  We learned about force and friction this year.  This experiement uses simple things like a jar lid and marbles to create a ball bearing, which will greatly reduce friction and allow the lid to turn easily.  We have ball bearings all around us, such as in our cars, in the rides at Lagoon and Disneyland, in robotic manufacturing machinery and in artificial limbs or joints (limbs: man-made arms and legs  joints: man-made replacement knees, hips and elbows) which help different parts to move smoothly and easily without wearing down or producing a lot of heat, which is a byproduct of friction.  Have fun making the ball bearing...just be sure to keep marbles away from your younger brothers and sisters because they might put them in their mouths and accidentally choke on them.  Make sure you have your mom or dad help you make the ball bearing and put everything away safely when you are done.
